I love creating beautiful art pieces for beautiful spaces. I am both trained and self-taught, finding joy in both the defined approach and the freedom of using my God-given talent in a way that provides me with an inner satisfaction and replenishes my soul.
I began my professional path by pursuing the Realism style of painting. Then decided to expand my training by taking art classes in Abstract/Contemporary art with well-known SA artist, Carol Allum. Initially, I found the transition difficult but now find it invigorating to move easily between the two styles of painting.
But beyond the discipline, I enjoy experimentation with different paints, oils, plasters, glazes and stains – constantly improving my own unique creativity – giving my work an individual stamp of beauty, innovation and personality. Every piece has a part of my soul in it.
My inspiration? The sea. The sound of the ocean, of waves crashing on the shore, the seagulls, the shells, the amazing array of turquoise and blues – this is the natural canvas that awakens my desire to paint, to discover new designs which I transfer to canvas, utilizing various colours, mediums and textures to transform nature’s bounty into my own concepts of beauty.
God, my family, friends and animals are the centre of my universe. I use my talent, and the happiness this brings me, to touch others. I work as a volunteer for the cancer association where I help patients to find the internal joy that is the artist’s gift but the right of everybody. I teach them to look good and feel better about themselves. I transmit the joy of my inspiration to them though understanding, and living in the great artwork of the Creator.
Art is our deepest connection – and I am grateful to let the vision and emotion and the light of God shine through me and my work on a daily basis.
